●Overview: Tour of You Kobo, introduction to Kyoto's famous bamboo, actual bamboo fence making experience ●Duration: 1.5h Kyoto has had a long, strong connection with bamboo because the area has clay soil and a clean water source ideal for good quality bamboo to grow. Nagaoka Meichiku manufactures bamboo fences (fences made by plaiting and weaving bamboo) using this high-quality bamboo and used their first-class technology to take part in constructing bamboo fences at Kinkakuji Temple and Heian Jingu Shrine.

Takenaka Kinsai

●Overview: Experience the gold-plating process on a leather pass case. Explanation of the gold painting craft and 300 kinds of traditional Kyoto patterns. ●Duration: 1.5h Kinsai is a traditional Kyoto craft that adheres foil and metal powder such as gold and silver to the kimono. Takenaka Kinsai has an atelier in Saga-Arashiyama, Kyoto, and has been involved in Kinsai for over 50 years. The atelier is refining their craft while taking advantage of the colors of the yūzen technique to bring out even more beauty and working on the development of not only cloth goods but leather products with kinsai finish.

Ikeuchi Yuzen

●Overview: Experience making crafts from fukusas(silk wrapping cloth) and other colored items (item handed over on a later date for sewing process) ●Duration: 2h Ikeuchi Yuzen makes kimonos and obi using the hand-painted yūzen dyeing technique passed down since the Edo period. In an industry where the creative process is usually subdivided by specialty, it is one of the few ateliers that conducts design to production. In recent years, the atelier launched SOMEA. This brand applies yūzen dyeing to leather and produces fashionable and modern leather accessories that are colored one by one by artisans instead of printing.
